19th Century Converted Oil Lamp with Shade

About the Item

The design and details of this converted lamp make it a standout. It is a neoclassical style brass, bronze and porcelain lamp that is elegant and traditional. The top part of the lamp is brass while the base is likely bronze. This appears to have once been a kerosene or gas lamp that has been converted with electricity. It is English, circa 1880-1900. It is surmounted by a tapering cylindrical brass section over a reeded fitting with a stationary gas switch key, and an ovoid shaped receptacle, raised on a cylindrical standard with reeded porcelain overlay, on a circular bronze foot. The converted lamp now has a three-way switch. It is 34 inches overall height . The lamp shade is not included.
