Mahogany Brazier Box, Spain, 18th Century
About the Item
Brazier box in mahogany wood, 18th century.
On legs in the form of claws with balls the box is raised, with a circular profile and decorated with a mixture of skirting at the bottom and nails with plant elements on the top. In the central hole is the container for coal, which has two ornate handles with scallops. This type of furniture was widely used in houses as a heating system or to purify the air (burning olives bones), varying in its typology and decoration according to the importance of the family.
