John & Thomas Seymour Cabinet Makers in Boston 1794-1816 with Supplement. 1.) John and Thomas Seymour Cabinet Makers in Boston 1794-1816 by Vernon C. Stoneman. Boston: Special Publications, 1959. Hardcover with slipcase. A catalogue of the furniture made by Boston cabinet makers John and Thomas Seymour from 1794-1816. John Seymour was born in England in 1738 and worked as a cabinet maker there until he, his wife and son Thomas, the fourth of six children, immigrated to the United States in 1784. In Boston, John and Thomas created furniture with a similar neoclassical high-style that was being made in London. The book is illustrated with nine color images and 70 black and white. 2.) A Supplement to John and Thomas Seymour Cabinet Makers in Boston 1794-1816 by Vernon C. Stoneman. Boston: Special Publications, 1965. An addendum to the first John and Thomas Seymour Cabinet Makers in Boston 1794-1816, first published in 1959 (above.) The book contains newer examples of labeled Seymour pieces and attributed pieces. The book is illustrated with 70 black and white images. The original hard to find first editions. NPT Books a division of N.P.     Wear consistent with age and use. slipcase shows small signs of age with slightly worn edges and repairs, spine lightly bleached, both books are in excellent condition.
