Antique English Staunton Chess Set With Red Crown Marks c.1900
About the Item
A handsome small library set of Ebony and Boxwood Staunton chess set, complete with the original storage box (shrinkage crack to top),
One knight and one rook from each side with impressed small crowns to their tops to donate king's side when playing.
The unmarked black rook has a chip to the top, see photo.
Very good all around condition, the king measuring 3" tall; the box measuring 6 1/2" x 4 1/2"" x 2 3/4". Dating to c.1900, late Victorian in era.
