They come from the same home as the alchemist painting that we published on 1stdibs earlier this week and the resemblence with the archetypical alchemist in that painting is striking. Maybe we are wrong, maybe it is a coincidence and in that case these eager 'students' are perhaps professors, scholars or librarians. Either way, to us these eager to learn and read 'bookworms' are the perfect archetypes for sculptural bookends.
