About the Item
This modern Ziegler Rug has a traditional Saltanabad design. Woven on a loom in Afghanistan by master weavers. Woven with the finest materials; hand-spun wool has been used, dyed using traditional organic vegetable dying techniques. The design features asymmetrical floral pattern through the centre, woven in colours of beige red and blue on an ivory background. The central design is then enclosed by a repeat pattern border, delicately woven to perfection.
The rugs of Sultanabad are extremely desirable in the modern marketplace. The popularity of Sultanabad rugs goes back to the mid-19th century. Originally designed and produced for export to European consumers in the 19th and 20th centuries, the Ziegler firm being the primary producer.
Constructed by hand with only the finest materials including hand-spun wool and cotton that have been dyed with organic dyeing techniques used for generations. The materials and techniques used in the construction of this fine wool rug make it durable and sure to last. This piece is in great condition, ready for use in any home.
