19th Century Persian Kerman Lavar in Floral Pattern in Ivory, Red, Navy, Yellow
About the Item
Truly a masterpiece of design and colors! Beautiful Kerman Lavar rug with a central medallion with a large format floral design from the late 1800s. The main field is in an ivory color with a central medallion in navy blue. The rug has accent colors in red, pale yellow, light blue, and cream. The border is in a pale yellow/cream color with flower design throughout. There is a central medallion in red and black colors.
The village of Kerman is located at the edge of the great desert in SE Persia and was on the ancient silk road. It is known for some of the most beautiful and colorful rugs that were woven in Persia. The weavers used the color and flower designs in rugs to bring some color and nature’s beauty to the dry desert environment that they lived in.
