Extra Fine Weave Persian Nain in Floral Pattern in Ivory, Blue, Camel, Navy, Tan
About the Item
Extra fine weave hand-knotted room size-rug Persian Nain from the 4th quarter of the 1900s. The Nain is in a floral medallion pattern with an ivory background, with a pale tan border and design accent colors in French blue, pale brown, and ivory colors with silk highlights throughout the design. It has a very special medallion called “Gonbad” which is a two dimensional depiction of the mosaic work when one is standing and looks up the central dome in an ancient mosque. Extremely fine Nain rugs are world renowned for their extremely high knot count and wonderful design. The design of this rug is reminiscent of rugs from the city of Isfahan with circular branches that go around the field. The corner spandrels are in a beautiful blue with cream color designs. The rug has a wool pile with a cotton foundation and silk highlights that shimmer under light. The vibrancy of the silk is unbelievable especially in the beautiful central medallion which gives a three-dimensionality to the design.

- Antique Persian Gold Navy Blue Ivory Floral Millefleur Kirman RugLocated in New York, NYKirman is an ancient city, with an incredible history going back over a thousand years. Marco Polo was one of the first westerners to view Kirman rugs. The city is located in the central south-eastern section of Iran, in the province that bears its name. Kirman carpets are perhaps one of the most recognizable within the antique Persian rug category. A typical pattern for Kerman rugs and carpets is a floral or architectural theme in the main border with a central medallion in the field. Other patterns include the finer Kirman Lavar style with garden, tree-of-life, vase, and all-over millefleur designs, or the many pictorials which tell the story of a significant figure or event in history. The vase design carpets originated during the Safavid dynasty, and are among the greatest masterpieces of Persian weaving. A stunning pattern of vines and palmettes derived from classical Persian Kirman unfolds elegantly across the rich ground of this sumptuous antique Persian Kirman carpet. This carpet has a full pile and measures 9.10 x 12.8 ft and is from circa 1940s. This rug can be used on the floor or as a wall hanging antique tapestry rug...Category
