About the Item

New and ready for generations of daily use, this Persian Serapi measures 5'11” x 8'9” and is hand-knotted in pure wool. Inspired by the classic Serapi carpets woven in Iran, this piece features a hand-knotted pile and an organically dyed color palette of red-pink, light blue, green, orange, and indigo wool. The rug's design illustrates a classic Serapi flower garden, featuring a large central medallion and an interconnecting floral border. Utilizing imagery through tribal-stylized designs, traditional carpet weavers continue to portray the story of their culture through the love of their craft. Orley Shabahang continues the traditional weaving process by working with weavers, house to house, village to village, to preserve the art of weaving as a cottage industry and implement these traditional methods to create the heirlooms of the future.
