Vintage Isfahan Traditional Blue and Red All-Over Floral Pattern by Rug & Kilim

About the Item

Originating from Persia in 1940, this vintage traditional Isfahan rug employs one of the most finely woven variations of the Islamic pattern enfolding its medallion field design. Hand knotted in fine, high-quality wool, the Islamic pattern is seen in the swirling, curvilinear vine scrolls surrounding lotus symbols of rebirth against the midnight blue background, depicted in beige matching the innermost borders and complimented the vibrant hues of red, yellow, and blue in the sharply drawn, kaleidoscopic medallion. Framed by a rustic red guard border of equal finesse, this piece hails from a select line with an Islamic pattern made to look homogenous with the border while being unfalteringly separate, even piercing the guard border in a choice remarking the creator’s emphasis on dimensionality.
