Hand-knotted in wool and originating from Germany circa 1920-1930, this 3x6 antique tiger runner rug is an exciting, rare new curation from the Rug & Kilim collection. On the Design: Pictorial rugs are among some of the richest works of folk art in any culture, though connoisseurs will note this piece is a particularly special piece like few European rugs from its period. The design depicts a single, bold tiger of outstanding detail in bright red, off-white and brown against a beige field. Its depiction of a roaring tiger is especially graphic, and a dynamic representation of this animal like few even among cultures known for this style.
