EGE CARPETS was founded by Mads Eg Damgaard in 1938 in Herning, Denmark. Starting in a small building with only two looms, Mads Eg Damgaard was a visionary. He used only the latest and most advanced technology in carpet production and was not afraid to challenge conventions. His philosophy still lives on at Ege Carpets. Ege Carpets builds a new showroom in 1957, "Det Skæve Hus" (The Crooked House), designed by Professor Gunnar Aagaard Andersen In 1985, Ege Carpets was listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange, and in the 1980s, additional subsidiaries were established in Germany, England, and France. Sustainable carpet production has always been a philosophy of Ege Carpets. In 1996, it was the first carpet manufacturer in the world to obtain the ISO 14001 Environmental Management certificate. At the same time, Ege Carpets achieved EMAS registration as the first and only carpet manufacturer in the world and published its first Environmental Report. Mads Eg Damgaard, founder of Ege Carpets, passed away in 1999 at the age of 85. Vincent Willem van Gogh (March 30, 1853 – July 29, 1890) was a Dutch painter. He created nearly nine hundred paintings and over a thousand drawings. As brilliant as he was misunderstood, if not outright despised, during his lifetime, Van Gogh influenced contemporary art and that of the following centuries. He began drawing as a child, and despite criticism from his father, a Protestant pastor who imposed strict rules, he continued to be interested in art until he decided to become a painter. He began painting at the age of twenty-seven, creating many of his most famous works in the last two years of his life. His subjects included self-portraits, landscapes, still lifes of flowers, paintings with cypresses, depictions of wheat fields, and sunflowers. His training was influenced by the landscape realism of the Barbizon painters and the ethical and social message of Jean-François Millet. After several years of suffering, also enduring frequent mental disturbances, he died under mysterious circumstances at the age of 37, in 1890. The artistic fame of his works would be recognized only after his death.
