Pair Of Regency Library Bergere Chairs

About the Item

An Extremely Good Quality And Unusual 19th Century, Regency Period, Pair Of Golden Oak Library Bergere Armchairs, Upholstered In Attractive Tan Leather, Having Upright Backs And Scrolling Arms With Elegant Turned Upright Supports, Raised On Fine Tapering Turned Legs With Later Brass Castors. This incredibly attractive pair of Library Chairs are quite unusual in terms of being a typical regency period design and style, but constructed from a lovely warm golden oak. The colour of this oak blends beautifully with the leather upholstery and creates a really attractive pair of chairs. Regarding the leather then we think it has probably been in place around 50 years or so, so it has a slightly weathered appearance, but overall is in good clean condition. There is also a few old scuffs and scrapes and even a couple of very minor, small snags in places, but these all add to the relatively aged look and certainly there is nothing visually displeasing at all. Originally these chairs would have been caned with loose seat cushions. These chairs are very comfortable to sit in and would look great in a huge variety of spaces around the home or office. They have real presence, but at the same time incredible understated elegance. As with all items which we offer for sale this pair of chairs have been attended to in our workshops and received a natural wax polish by our highly skilled, trained antique furniture restorers to ensure they are in the best possible condition before being offered for sale. Circa 1830. Height 40in. Width 24in. Depth 27.5in. Seat Height 17.5in.
