Robert Mallet-Stevens Tubular Stacking Chairs, Stevens Designs, Model 222, 1928

About the Item

Robert Mallet-Stevens (1886–1945) was a French modernist architect and designer. He believed in simple, functional designs which should be capable of mass production, and these principles are well evoked in his iconic Model 222 tubular chairs. The design was initially created for Mallet-Steven’s kitchen at the Villa Cavrois in the early 1930s but have been in production for decades after their conception. These examples are in good condition and have recently restored in a striking satin black finish. Four available.
