Wooden Concrete Chair by Jonas Bohlin, Sweden, 1981

About the Item

Swedish designer Jonas Bohlin's pioneering and minimalist approach to design reshaped the contemporary furniture landscape in Scandinavia. Manufactured under the prestigious label Källemo, Bohlin's iconic Concrete Chair and its wooden variant, the Wooden Concrete Chair, were designed for his degree project at Stockholm’s University College of Arts, Crafts & Design, and are now regarded as post-modern Swedish functionalism. The initial edition comprised just 100 pieces of the reinforced concrete and steel version, hence dubbed the Concrete Chair. The wooden iteration, named Concrete Chair II, melds the warmth of wood with the industrial edge of steel, infusing the design with a softer, more organic sensibility
