Rare Gunnar Birkerts Modernist Wrought Iron String Lounge Chairs

About the Item

"String Ensemble" lounge chairs by Gunnar Birkerts for Yellen. Rare examples; from our research, this is the only pair of the lounge chair version to surface. Birkerts worked with Eero Saarinen and Minoru Yamasaki in the 50's and 60's before starting his own firm. This pair has been professionally re-strung. The wrought iron frames were cleaned and re-lacquered to preserve the patina. They are in excellent condition and ready for use. We have included a newspaper clipping from 1954 featuring Birkerts and his chair. Measures: W24.5" x D21" x H41.5" (seat H17")
