A Pair of Ebonised Chinese Folding Occasional Hall Side Chairs Late Qing

About the Item

A characterful pair of late 19th Century, early 20th Century Chinese Folding Travel Chairs. Great form and colour, with ebonised frames and original woven nett seats. A simplistic, yet highly decorative pair with good geometry, well made with traditional mortice and tenon joints, a single carved backrest leading to a hat shaped top. They are usable occasional chairs, although their use is more decorative than practical, and they would certainly make a lovely pair of decorative hall chairs or perhaps used to flank an entrance or piece of furniture. The overall condition is good with some patina, a small loss to one of the back footrests (see photo) but this does not effect the structural integrity of the chair. The woven nett seats are also in good sound condition. Seat Height = 43cm / 21″
