About the Item
An Italian Sedia Alta chair designed by Mario Ceroli for Poltronova in 1972. This sculptural chair was carved from beautifully grained fir wood and features a dramatically high curved seat back and an angular cube base with demilune cutout details. Imprinted ‘Ceroli Poltronova’ on the lower left base of the chair.
This chair is documented in G. Gramigna, Repertorio del Design Italiano 1950 - 1980, Mondadori, 1985, page 363.

Mario Ceroli
Mario Ceroli is an Italian sculptor born in Castel Frentano, Italy in 1938. His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson, Mississippi. One of his sculptures is on the Luigi Einaudi campus of the University of Turin and another one is at the Vatican Museums.
