17th Century Italian Carved Cassone Trunk with Drawers and Inside Carved Panel

About the Item

Place this elegant antique coffer at the foot of a king size bed. Crafted in Italy, circa 1680, the rectangular trunk stands on bracket feet. Heavily carved on all three sides with arch and foliage decor, the cabinet features carved panels on the facade including a small door on the right panel fitted with three inside drawers. When opening the top and securing it with side ledger, the inside surface is decorated with carved raised panels and similar carvings. The blanket chest is upholstered with red velvet and has wonderful storage compartments. The Louis XIII style cassone is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich walnut patina. Two keys included. Measures: 58" W x 20.5" D x 26" H.
