About the Item

A spectacular and high quality Italian mid 18th century Louis XVI period Japanese black lacquer, lacewood, ormolu, and Brèche de Sicile marble cabinet from Florence, circa 1750. The two door cabinet is raised by elegant block supports with richly chased circular ormolu rosettes centering the scalloped shaped frieze adorned with lovely finely detailed foliate ormolu mounts. At the center are two doors over three panels, each decorated with stunning wonderfully executed Japanese black lacquer plaques with charming finely detailed foliate designs, also repeated at each side and at the three faux drawers above. The doors open to reveal one shelf and all original hardware. Each corner displays pierced ionic capital designs with intricately detailed swaging berried laurel garlands. Above is the original Brèche de Sicile marble top. All original gilt throughout.
