Antique Swedish Golden Ash Biedermeier Secretary Chest Dresser Desk inlaid 1820
About the Item
A very fine antique Swedish Biedermeier golden ash secretary chest, circa 1820.
The chest is made of the finest gold ash; a beautiful blond wood with figured graining. To the top of the cabinet is an architectural pediment, below is a locking fall-front writing surface (with the original key) enlcosing a fitted interior, with one long drawer with a corresponding architectural pediment and flanked by two banks of four small drawers. To the center is a pair of columns with an ebony & ash tiled parquetry floor and a mirror to the rear, at each side is a pair of recessed secret drawers. The chest is flanked with a pair of simple columns with turned capitals, below the secretary are three drawers, the bottom drawer of curved form, the secretary chest is raised on four block feet.
