French 18th Century Bresse Baker's Table Two Inch Thick Top

About the Item

French Provincial Bresse farmhouse baker's table with two sliding doors, exceptionally thick plank top (2" thick) with breadboard ends, straight faceted legs with lambs tongue detail, chamfered H stretcher. This very heavily constructed table 71 1/2 inch long table has multi uses today; everything from a server, to a bar, to an island in a kitchen (it is finished on all sides and stands easily in its space), to a library table. The timber is ash which takes on a rich deep maple syrup color. The legs have been ended out about 3" using similar timber. circa 1780. 71 1/2" long x 24" deep x 30 3/4" high.

  • Condition:
    Repaired: The legs have been ended out about 3" as they were eroded unevenly over time sitting on damp stone floor. It is now level and sturdy. Wear consistent with age and use. This table has gone through our workshops, all joints are now tight , a fresh wax polish has been applied and it is ready to be used on an every day basis.
