1860s Belgian Oak Vitrine

About the Item

Magnificent and ornate, this antique oak vitrine cuts an impressive figure. Built in Belgium in the 1860s, the design is inspired by the elaborate furniture of the Renaissance. Beautifully carved urns crown the cabinet, evoking those found in the gardens of Italian villas and palaces. The window panes of the upper cabinet are flanked by fluted columns, while the drawers are carved with a lively design of scrolling leaves. The carving has a striking dimension and depth, which accentuates the architectural quality of the silhouette. The oak has been carefully restored in our workshops to reveal its organic finish: a pale hue, with notes of gold and sepia.
