19th Century French Louis XVI Library Table in Stripped Oak
About the Item
19th Century French Louis XVI Library Table in Stripped Oak is a remarkable example of the furniture crafter's art! Utilizing hand-select old-growth oak, only solid planks and turnings were used to start. The top is beautifully trimmed in a fancy rendition of the timeless egg & dart but rendered with an acanthus plume motif. Underneath, the fully fluted apron is lavished with a variety of carved details including floral swags, foliate scrolls, and medallions at the center with a flaming urn on the ends, and a caryatid on the long sides. The entire apron features these motifs in bold relief, creating incredible presence. But the artisans didn't stop there! Each of the four turned legs was also lavished with floral garlands and grapevines with clusters of grapes wrapped around the legs in a spiral leading the eye to the feet with upturned lotus blossoms. An amazingly impressive display of wood sculpture that also happens to be a wonderful table that your family will enjoy for generations to come! Painstakingly stripped using our proprietary process that retains the patina and sheer natural beauty of the old wood, all performed by our expert in-house staff.
