Chinese Late Qing Dynasty Wooden Coffee Table with Bamboo Top and Open Apron

About the Item

A Chinese Late Qing Dynasty period wooden low table from the early 20th century with bamboo top and straight legs, perfect to be used as a coffee table. Created in China during the Late Qing Dynasty in the early years of the 20th century, this low table, which could nowadays be used as a coffee table, features a rectangular top with bamboo inset sitting above a linear base. Coffee tables as we call them now evolved from the Kang tables that were developed in the Ming Dynasty. Those low tables were long and rectangular with short legs and placed on a kang which was a raised three-walled platform. Our coffee table showcases four straight and sturdy legs connected to one another through an open apron presenting pillar strut motifs. This décor is present on all sides, our coffee table will therefore be able to float in a room and be seen from all angles. With its clean lines and bamboo top, this Chinese Late Qing Dynasty wooden coffee table from the early 20th century will bring an exotic and elegant touch to any home, placed in a living room or under a covered patio!
