Chinese Persimmon Lacquer Altar Table, c. 1900

About the Item

Perfected in the Ming dynasty, complex joinery techniques allowed craftsmen to create furniture with flowing lines, a sense of lightness, and remarkable durability. Crafted from pine, this early 20th-century offering table employs these traditional joinery methods and features a waisted apron, a floating panel top, and square corner legs linked with humpback stretchers. The table is colored by a glossy lacquer finish with mottled color of warm brown with red-orange undertones. Ideal as a console or sofa table, this timeless altar brings the rich colors and textures of Chinese lacquer to the modern interior. Additional Dimensions: Table Apron to Floor: 25"
