Spanish Baroque 18th Century Lyre Leg Wooden Trestle Table with Iron Stretcher

About the Item

A Spanish baroque table with decorative forged-iron stretcher from the 18th century. This antique table from Spain features a rectangular-shaped top, which is raised upon a pair of fluidly-carved, lyre-shaped trestle styled legs at either end. The pair of trestles are braced by a beautifully hand forged iron stretcher, which crosses at center, are adorn with decorative iron accents, and curl into spirals at their bottom ends. The wood has a warm, brown coloring and fabulous old patina showing its history and use. This late 18th century Spanish stretchered table offers numerous options for use, perhaps as an occasional table, or a desk within a study.

  • Antique Spanish Trestle-Leg & Iron Stretcher Desk, Elaborately Carved
    Located in Atlanta, GA
    A Spanish elaborately carved wood desk, with trestle-legs and forged-iron stretchers, from the turn of the 19th and 20th century. This antique table from Spain has a rectangular-shaped top with leaf carved trim about the perimeter edges, which overhangs the apron below that houses three drawers (set side by side in horizontal fashion discreetly within the frieze). The apron is ornately carved about all sides (including drawer fronts) in a motif of various figures, creatures, cartouche style plaques, and fluted brackets. It is raised upon a pair of nicely-carved lyre-shaped trestle legs, with leaf carved accent trim embellishments and terminating onto ball and claw carved feet. The underside of the table is braced by a pair of hand-forged iron stretchers, adorn with disc shapes and scrolled ends. The wood has has a custom bleached finish with a highlighted accent trim.
