Antique 19th-century oval extendible French warm brown mahogany dining table.
About the Item
On offer here is an exquisite oval extendible antique dining table, meticulously crafted in central France around 1880. This extraordinary piece boasts a central pedestal, intricately carved to perfection. Through a cleverly engineered solid oak system, the central pedestal gracefully splits, revealing a beautifully turned middle leg. This allows the table to be extended to an impressive length of 202 inches, making it ideal for grand gatherings. When fully extended, this table graciously accommodates up to 20 guests. It's an invitation to create cherished memories and host unforgettable moments. The mahogany pedestal is a testament to the craftsmanship of its makers, adorned with classical elements, including a delicate pearl border. The tabletop is composed of four wide planks of solid mahogany, showcasing a stunning grain pattern. The table has been stained in a rich, warm brown hue and finished with several layers of clear lacquer, resulting in a deep, lustrous sheen. Years of careful use and maintenance with beeswax have bestowed the table with a captivating patina, adding to its character and charm.
Meticulously restored in our atelier, the table received a thorough cleaning, with special attention given to the oak sliding system. Additionally, we handcrafted nine solid cherrywood extension leaves, meticulously matched in both color and finish to the original tabletop. The wheels underneath were replaced to ensure smooth mobility.
Note: The wood used on this table is Utile or Sipo Mahogany from the Meliaceae family. This wood is not included on the CITES list and can therefore be shipped across borders without problems.
