About the Item

Lovely dining room set consisting a large Spanish table in solid pine and ten French dining chairs in red lacquered beech and straw seats. Large dining table, solid pine, Spain, 1950s This remarkable table holds a strong expression due to several aspects that are all typical for Spanish Midcentury design. First the use of solid pine wood holds a rural and robust aesthetic. Secondly, the design is constructed out of basic, elemental shapes such as the circle and cross. The table has an open look and is structurally supported by means of a horizontal beam. The wood structure has a beautiful grain. Very well made, great wood joints are visible. Set of ten dining chairs, beech, straw, France, 1960s. Stunning set of ten French chairs with red beech frames and classic organic straw seats. This set of chairs features a solid wooden frame, consisting of cylindrical thick legs that are connected to each other with elegant slim horizontal slats. The way this large set is designed shows a strong resemblance to the ´Dordogne´ chairs designed by Charlotte Perriand. Particularly the characteristic method of folding straw rope vertically, which leaves this typical horizontal line in the middle of the back and the seat. Please note that these items are in good, used condition. Dimensions of the coffee table: H 70 x W 170 x D 170 cm. Dimensions of the chairs: H 79 x W 40.2 x D 46.2 cm. Seat Height: 45 cm.
