A Robust Italian 9.5 Ft Long Dining Table w/Carved Trestle Legs & Iron Stretcher
About the Item
An Italian antique large-sized wooden dining table with forged iron stretcher. This table from Italy was constructed in the early 20th century, but with older 19th century boards used for the top- which are nice and solid at 2.25" thick! The top is raised upon a pair of decoratively carved trestle legs; canted turned legs braced with a pair of stretcher beams that have scallop carvings about their undersides. The table is further supported by forged iron stretcher bars, which create an elegant ogee style arch at the underside of the table, and scrolled ends where they meet the trestle legs. The wood, particularly about the top, has an old patina and fabulous show of age. There is one spot on a corner/top that has a prior repair and there is a slight bow there. The table comes apart for ease of transportation and installation. The measurement between the floor and apron is approximately 28.5 inches. This handsome Italian table has a beautifully rustic presence and will make a wonderful statement piece as a dining room table. Please note that this table is quite heavy!
