Beautiful George I Walnut Lowboy c. 1730

About the Item

With a fabulous colour and in excellent original condition this beautiful walnut lowboy dates from c. 1730 and has two short over one long drawer with original oak linings. The drawers open and close smoothly and each drawer front is dressed with beautifully figured walnut bordered with satinwood banding. The shaped bail and engraved brass handles are Georgian and appear original but may be early replacements which have been on the lowboy for most of its life. With a well shaped apron and substantial cabriole legs to front and rear, original backboard. The oversailing top, quarter veneered in thickly cut walnut and with an inlaid featherbanded inner border and wide crossbanded outer border. The lowboy is very beautiful, super colour and condition, usable, sturdy, heavy and solid. Strongly recommended Dimensions are: 36.5 inches wide, 19.75 inches deep and 27 inches high.
