Pair of Chinese Low Inset Leg Tables, c. 1850

About the Item

This pair of low tables would have once flanked a platform bed in the intimate living space of a traditional Qing-dynasty home. Perfectly proportioned, they are quintessential examples of Chinese furniture-making. The inset, rounded legs, simple stretchers, and subtly decorated spandrels are all fundamentals of Ming-inspired furniture. It is extraordinary that this pair of tables has remained together over the last 150 years. Additional dimensions : Table apron to floor: 17" H
