About the Item

Sanayi313 serving bar cart by Sanayi 313 Unique Piece Dimensions: W 77 x D 46 x H 82 cm Materials: Ash Veener, Bronze Wine Rack and Wheel, Bronze Details SANAYI313 is an Istanbul-based interdisciplinary practice co-founded by two brothers, interior architect Enis Karavil and entrepreneur Amir Karavil. The SANAYI313 brand functions as an umbrella for a diverse spread of creative businesses: a design studio operating a canteen and a curated store offering unconventional and experiential shopping experiences. All divisions interact to inspire and nurture each other under one single vision that is SANAYI313. Working from a converted auto repair shop in the Industrial district of Istanbul, the collective’s multi-purpose approach to the space provides visitors a multitude of ways to interact with the world of SANAYI313. The design studio, operating from the upper floor behind a glass wall, mainly works within the fields of interiors, furniture and objects. In varied typologies and scales, the interiors range from renovations to new builds across residential and commercial environments in Istanbul, London, New York and Miami. From a beach house in Miami to a Downtown cafe in Istanbul, the collective approaches each project as a storyteller, bringing a coherent sense of character in relation to the location and function of the wide range of spaces. Creative Director Enis Karavil’s “maximalist expressions in Minimalist details” approach forms the basis of the studio’s main design principles, while eclecticism, refinement, authenticity, elegance, timelessness, and functionality remain the common thread among all projects. As part of SANAYI313’s spatial aesthetic expressions, the studio also designs a growing line of products that merge form and function, and are characterized by their details and materiality. Working with noble materials such as wood, bronze and glass, the studio focuses on sculptural forms that Challenge the capability of the material while highlighting its distinctive features. Relying on Istanbul’s Craft culture and local manufacturing workshops within close proximity to the studio, SANAYI313 favors Craft production over Industrial manufacturing, and works directly with artisans to realize its ideas from prototyping to finished pieces. Broadening the Scope of the studio’s work to encompass different creative outlets, the collective also integrates the SANAYI313 design language into fields other than their main expertise to compose limited-time-only projects. This approach was first manifested in a contemporary accessories collection of shoes and bags launched back in 2015 that quickly developed a cult following while being stocked by various top retailers around the world. On the ground level is the canteen and store open to all. A contemporary eatery for healthy, fresh, seasonal and locally-sourced food served in beautiful ceramics, SANAYI313 KITCHEN reinterprets familiar recipes with better ingredients and tasty twists, resulting in a true gastronomic experience assembling Turkish and European influences. Guided by purity, ethics and sustainability, SANAYI313 KITCHEN offers catering services and bookings for private gatherings as well. A curated retail space of hand-picked goods crossing furniture, home accessories, and lifestyle products, SANAYI313 THE STORE is also where the design studio debuts its new furniture and design objects. A decidedly unique form of commerce, the store’s offerings range from carefully selected vintage finds and rare collectibles that are harmoniously blended with contemporary Craft works showcased in a gallery-like setting. As a means to communicate with its Community on a continual basis, SANAYI313 runs an online publication dedicated to contemporary culture and creativity under the title of SANAYI313 PAPER. Carefully selected content from the publication also creates a niche, dense, bookish and collectible biannual print magazine curated and edited by the in-house editorial team, headed by editor-in-chief, Sidni Karavil. Delivering insightful briefings through a mix of in-depth reportage, interviews and photography, SANAYI313 PAPER appeals to the culturally-curious who appreciate art, design, architecture, food and travel. SANAYI313 has garnered international and national design awards and commendations, including Elle Style “The Place of The Year” Award in 2015 and “Best Mixed-Use of Interior’’ by the European International Property Awards in 2017. Enis Karavil was named “The Interior Architect of the Year” in 2018 by Elle Decoration. SANAYI313 Kitchen received Two Pearls from Pearly Gastronomy Guide in 2017, which was followed by Four Pearls in two consecutive years in 2019 and 2020.

  • Italian Bar Cart by Cesare Lace for Fratelli Reguitti 1950s
    By Cesare Lacca, Fratelli Reguitti
    Located in Byron Bay, NSW
Wonderful Italian wood trolley with glass and brass finishes. It has a removable serving tray with brass and chrome finishes. This 1950s production is attributed to Cesare Lacca, has wonderful rounded lines and materials plus amazing brass finishes This serving table will add a fresh accent wherever you place it and it will work in a natural, bohemian, midcentury or contemporary ambience. Born in Naples in 1929, Italian architect-designer Cesare Lacca created modernist furniture and metalwork throughout the 1950s. Though details of his personal life and professional training remain lost to history, there are sufficient surviving primary sources that document his many elegant designs in brasswork for which he is the best know and which fetch high prices from collectors. Like many Italian designers in the 20th century, Lacca moved to Milan after World War II to launch his career. Before he was even 21 years old, his work was selected by a group of American curators for inclusion in the landmark exhibition Italy at Work: Her Renaissance in Design Today that toured 12 US museums between 1950 and 1953—the first major exhibition of Italian design outside of Italy. The exhibition showcased the best and brightest of Italian designers who had embraced modernist principles and rejuvenated traditional Italian crafts, like Carlo Mollino, Franco Albini, and Gio Ponti In the exhibition catalogue, curator Meyric R. Roger’s spotlights Lacca's expert achievements in brass, noting “the variety and quality of his creations,” which “place him high among the architect-designers leading the current [Modernist] movement." Rogers adds, "The quality of his work...provide[s] all the decorative effectiveness needed without strain or exaggeration”. Lacca designed a great many tea carts and serving trolleys in his career—which make up a large proportion of what is available on the vintage market today—as well as magazine racks and coffee tables. Lacca’s most iconic tea cart was manufactured by Italian brand Cassina and features sculpted beech, cedar, teak, or walnut with brass details, a glass tabletop, and a removable glass tray. Lacca also designed high-backed lounge chairs, which were regularly featured in Arredoluce advertisements for Angelo Lelli’s lighting...
