About the Item
Lars Östling has a long experience as an artist with countless exhibitions in Sweden and abroad, a long list of public works and a position as one of the country's leading portrait painters. He is a summer resident on the island of Fårö for many years, famous for being the place where Ingmar Bergman lived
Fårö has been of great importance to Lars as an artist as he, like many others, is inspired by the island's barren and unique nature that contains both beauty, drama and a sense of timelessness. He believes that it is a privilege to have been able to work with his world of images there, throughout his adult life. What distinguishes Lars' painting is his ability to capture the light, regardless of time of day or season. This gives his pictures their own mystery and depth.
