1948 London Olympic Games - Walter Herz Original Vintage Poster

About the Item

The first games after World War II and Great Britains first time hosting, the 1948 Olympic Games were held in London between 29th July to 14th August. The United States won the games with the most golds. This iconic design by Walter Herz depicts the Discobolus statue of ancient Greece in front of the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben along with the instantly recognisable Olympic rings. Only 100,000 copies of the poster were made, with 50,000 being in Double Royal, 25,000 in Double Crown and 25,000 Crown format which this one is. This exceptionally rare poster is in fantastic unrestored condition and has vibrant colour.
