About the Item
Stunning original vintage travel advertising poster promoting travel to the Sahara via Air Afrique. The artist Jean Dessirier produced a beautiful series of posters for the airline in the 1960’s before turning to sculpture in later years. In this dramatic image, he illustrates the nomadic tribes of the Sahara and evokes the heat and expanse of the desert.
Air Afrique was launched in 1960 as a subsidiary of Air France and UAT. Jointly owned by 11 newly independent former French colonies, it continued serving the continent until 2002.
This vintage poster is sized 60 x 99 cm and has been professionally linen-backed. It will be sent rolled.
