19th Century French Gold Cherub Brooch
About the Item
A French nineteenth century gold cherub brooch, the body of yellow gold with rose-cut diamond encrusted wings, carrying a garland of oval faceted rubies and old cut diamond, with twisted ribbon ends, measuring approximately 1.5cm x 1cm, bearing French 18ct gold mark, circa 1880, gross weight 10.8 grams.
This antique brooch is in excellent condition.
This delicate and romantic brooch was made in France in the late nineteenth century. Featuring a golden cherub with diamond encrusted wings, this brooch comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. The cherub is a sentimental figure: sweet and angelic but also mischievous, symbolising love and passion. The cherub carries a floral garland of diamonds and vivid rubies, which glitter beautifully. This lovely brooch makes a delightful accessory.
Should you choose to make this purchase we would be delighted to send it to you in a Bentley & Skinner handmade leather case packed in a gift-wrapped Bentley & Skinner black and gold presentation box. Shortly afterwards we will send you on a valuation for insurance purposes for your reference and safekeeping.
