Estate 18 Karat Gold Plique a Jour Enamel Articulated Butterfly Brooch
About the Item
Beautiful 18 karat yellow gold and multi-colored jeweled plique-a-jour enamel butterfly brooch with fully articulated wings and ruby eyes. Finely chased antennae, faceted ruby eyes and textured body of this amazing butterfly form the support for four articulated plique-a-jour enamel wings with jeweled enamel accents. The large primary wings with five cornflower blue enamel sections closest to the body flow gracefully into the slightly larger green-blue sections which form a series of opal colored jeweled enamel droplets, edged with five enamel sections and ruby colored enamel half-ovals. The secondary wings with blue to green plique-a-jour enamel, large ruby colored jeweled enamel ovals and half oval sections. The articulated wings with good breadth of movement and so precisely crafted that they are able to stand in place on their own.
