About the Item
This charming bee pin by Herbert Rosenthal features intricate detail, crafted in 18k yellow gold with round natural rubies for eyes. The exquisite design displays high quality workmanship with its truly outstanding and realistic appearance. The brooch is secured with a pin along the back with a swivel locking mechanism that is in perfect working condition. The underside of the wings bear the stamps 18K and the designer's hallmark: HR.
Herbert Rosenthal was a jeweler from New York who became the most famous designer and manufacturer of jewelry featuring bees. These bees were so intricately designed and meticulously crafted that they looked like live honeybees about to take flight after having rolled in a pile of gold dust, diamonds, and gemstones. He later became the official designer of bees and other insects pieces for Tiffany & Co.
