Regency Yellow Gold and Gemset Butterfly Brooch

About the Item

A Regency yellow gold and gemset butterfly brooch, the butterfly comprising amethyst- and citrine-set double wings, with citrine body and garnet head, all set to a yellow gold mount with beaded decoration to the sides, circa 1820, measures approximately 3.8x2.8cm, gross weight 7.8 grams. This brooch is in very good condition, the roller catch is later. Unmarked, tested as 18ct gold. A delicate and feminine brooch, made in the Regency era. This brooch is in the shape of a butterfly with citrine and amethyst wings. The pale yellow of the citrine beautifully complements the pale lilac hue of the amethyst, and the yellow gold mount adds warmth to the stones. The gold mount has gold bead decorations, adding fine detail to this piece. This charming brooch comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and would look lovely pinned to a smart summer dress. Should you choose to make this purchase we would be delighted to send it to you in a Bentley & Skinner handmade leather case packed in a gift-wrapped Bentley & Skinner black and gold presentation box. Shortly afterwards we will send you on a valuation for insurance purposes for your reference and safekeeping.
