Round Essex Crystal Stick Pin

About the Item

A round Essex crystal stick pin, the cabochon-cut crystal depicting a bird, set on an 18ct gold rub-over mount, to gold pin fitting, circa 1900, the jewelled part measuring 1.4cm in diameter, the pin measuring 6.8cm, gross weight 5 grams. This lovely crystal stick pin dates to the turn of the 20th century and comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. Under the cabochon cut crystal is a delicate carved image of a colourful water bird standing in water and surrounded by reeds. This charming piece would look handsome in a jacket lapel or silk tie. Should you choose to make this purchase we will delighted to send it to you in a Bentley & Skinner handmade leather case packed in a gift-wrapped Bentley & Skinner black and gold presentation box. Shortly afterwards we will send you on a valuation for insurance purposes for your reference and safekeeping.

Victorian stickpin of a bearded collie or English sheepdog in Essex crystal and set in an 18K twisted rope border around its frame and a large 9K gold pin that measures 4.25 inches long including the pin. Keep your lovely furry companion with you all day. The crystals are carved in reverse or intaglio into the flat back to create a three-dimension trompe l'oeil effect. The image is then painted in realistic detail. The scale of this Essex crystal dog pin is quite unusual and especially wonderful. We rarely seem find such spectacular Essex crystal representations of dogs. Note that one of the photos shows the model with 2 Essex crystal stickpins...
