THIS IS A STUNNING SNAKE BROOCH IN THE FORM OF A SNAKE HOLDING DIAMOND ENCRUSTED FLOWERS IN ITS MOUTH. THE SNAKE IS ADORNED WITH THE MOST STUNNING BASSE-TAILLE ROYAL BLUE ENAMEL.
And snake jewelry is all the rage today. In the Victorian era the snake was the symbol of eternal love. It has come to symbolize sexuality, rebirth and wisdom.
The brooch is adorned with basse-taille royal blue enamel. The snake holds a branch with flowers and leaves which are set throughout with rose cut diamonds. The eyes of the snake are rose cut diamonds. The brooch is vermeil - silver with a heavy gold wash.
The snake brooch is a later interpretation of a Victorian jewel.
The brooch is 2 inches (50mm) long and is 1 1/4 inches (32mm) tall.
