Early Victorian Triple Hoop Cut Steel Earrings
About the Item
From my personal collection I offer Early Victorian Cut Steel Hoop Earrings to wear with a formal dress or a denim shirt. I did both. The hoops are concentric circles suspended from a flower cluster top. They are not heavy and will romantically move as you move. Enlarge the photo and you will see that each steel bit is hand faceted like the rose diamonds of the period. They sparkle by day and night. The jeweler made a base of brass or silver in the design he planned for the earrings. He then made tiny rivets to which he attached each bit of steel. Valued from the time they were made, Europeans knew the hand work that went in to the making of cut steel jewelry and appreciated it. Fine condition. Slight wear to darken a few of the rivets that you can count on one hand. Two inches long 1 1/8 in wide. 7.8 grams each
