Vintage Platinum Diamond Earrings GIA Cluster Stud Estate Jewelry
About the Item
A beautiful pair of vintage platinum diamond earrings from the roaring 1930s.
While designed as classic cluster earrings, this Art Deco inspired platinum diamond pair features unique details. Resembling a flower, each earring features in the center an antique cushion cut diamond, also called Old Mine cut. These two diamonds come with GIA Diamond Grading Reports (see pictures 6 and 7). The “flower’s petals” are skillfully crafted out of folded platinum and embellished with diamonds. Between the petals are staged bezel set single cut diamonds, six in total.
These vintage platinum earrings are equipped with 18k white gold back closure, stamped with French hallmarks for 18 karat gold.
The earrings are made of platinum and feature two antique cushion cut diamonds that come with a GIA Diamond Grading Reports. One diamond is 1.31-carat I color and VS2 clarity, the other diamond is 1.19-carat J color and SI1 clarity. The other diamonds are of single cut, approximately 1.0 carat total weight.
The earring backs are made of 18 karat white gold.
The vintage earrings measure 5/8" (1.5 cm) in diameter and weigh 8.3 grams.
The earrings backs are made of 18k white gold and stamped with French hallmarks for 18 karat gold.
About Platinum Jewelry:
Platinum is a rare metal, with a limited global supply. If all the platinum ever mined were melted down, it would only fill an average-sized living room to about ankle height. This rarity makes platinum more valuable than more common metals like gold or silver.
Platinum is dense and durable. It is highly resistant to corrosion and tarnish, making it an excellent choice for jewelry that needs to withstand everyday wear and tear. Its strength and durability mean that platinum jewelry is less likely to get scratched or damaged compared to other metals, maintaining its beauty over time. Platinum jewelry lasts for ages and can be passed down from generation to generation.
Purity and durability — those two characteristics define platinum from the rest of the precious metals. From the chemical perspective, platinum is one of the most stable elements.
The white color of platinum comes from its purity. While white gold contains an alloy of zinc, copper and nickel, platinum has a pure 95-98% composition. In fact, white gold is yellow gold mixed with other metals and then rhodium plated. Because of its purity, platinum also is hypoallergenic. Those who are allergic to certain metals, such as nickel, often find platinum to be a safe and comfortable choice for jewelry.
Platinum’s purity and strength make it relevant to the idea of eternal love. It’s an embodiment of strong feelings and rarity. That’s why platinum engagement rings and platinum wedding bands have been popular ever since.
Platinum has always been a symbol of status and reputation. It looks subtle and not as noticeable as yellow gold. Gemstones set in platinum look well pronounced due to the metal’s neutral appearance. The color, brilliance, and vibrancy of diamonds and colored stones are amplified next to platinum “true white”.
About Vintage Jewelry:
Vintage jewelry is something we can talk about for days. Since the subject is that big and has multiple aspects to discuss, we’d like to focus on the most important parts of it. So, what is vintage jewelry? Why is it so appealing? And how to buy your vintage jewelry online?
In the industry, different sellers and makers have different opinions on the time period when vintage jewels were made. Here at Nadine Krakov, we consider vintage as anything being made between 50 and 100 years ago. Therefore, all jewelry produced from 1930s to 1980s is called vintage. This time frame is comprised of Art Deco, Retro and Mid-Century.
Why do we love vintage jewelry so much? It’s all about the quality of the make and - of course - the aesthetic.
Vintage pieces were mostly made by hand or at least hand-finished while modern jewels are mainly cast. As the lifestyle back in the days was much slower, jewelry makers literally had more time in their hands. Skilled craftsmen honed their craft and reputation. They couldn’t allow a flimsy, poorly done piece to ruin that. Mass market jewelry didn’t exist at that time. Each little detail of a piece was executed thoughtfully and with high quality in mind.

- Diamond Stud Earrings 14k White Gold Estate JewelryLocated in Beverly Hills, CAA pair of diamond stud earrings made of 14k white gold. Diamonds are radiant cut in four-prong settings. It’s a classic and popular choice for earrings. The size and quality of the gemstones is what makes these earrings stand out. Radiant cut diamonds combine the elegance of the emerald cut with the sparkle of the round brilliant cut. They are square or rectangular in shape with trimmed corners. This cut looks stunning in solitaire settings and earrings. The four-prong setting, also known as a "solitaire setting," is one of the most common ways to secure a diamond. Each stone is set in an individual four-pronged basket, allowing maximum visibility from all sides. The prongs are like tiny claws holding the diamond at its girdle, which is the widest part of the stone. This setting provides a secure hold while allowing ample light to enter and exit the stone, enhancing its brilliance and sparkle. The diamond studs are made of 14 karat white gold and feature two radiant cut diamonds. One diamond is 5.12-carat, L color, VS2 clarity. The other diamond is 5.02-carat, L color, VS1 clarity. Both diamonds come with GIA Diamond Grading Reports (please see pictures 3 and 4). The Diamond stud earrings measure 5/8" x 3/8" (1.7 x 1 cm) and weigh 4.2 grams. About Estate Jewelry...Category
