About the Item

International award-winning Jewelry Design and Academic Dr. Jane Magon's created this necklace called SETTING SUN ON ULARU with the main stones being Carnelian, Agate, Mexican Fire opal. The inspiration is the Setting Sun on Ularu refers to Jane's memories of the land: purple, purple-red, red, red-gold, yellow, and ochre. Rocks were often volcanic in nature, textured - or smoothed by an ancient inland sea. The necklace’s textures and colors refer to light sparkling on sand, rock, and boulders balanced incongruously on one another. Ularu (Ayers Rock) projects upwards in an extraordinary fashion from the flat landscape, famous for sunsets changing light and colors on the rock. As an art historian, landscapes reference the French Impressionist artist Claude Monet who painted the effects of changing light on the same objects (such as the haystack, the cathedral, and the water-lilies). Jane's reference point is Ularu- in the form of a ‘landscape necklace’. Other stones in this necklace are light yellow jasper, Tigers eye, silver set Tibetan bead, long brown Sundaris (type of African amber) bead, smooth Carnelian beads, Mookite cube (native to Australia), carved honey jade barrel, carnelian donut, 2 x faceted carnelian cylinder, red tiger eye oblong, uncut quartz crystal beige, African amber cylinder, African amber, Israeli cut garnets, and brown jade. Wire wrapped on sterling silver wire with a sterling silver toggle clasp. In stock and ready to ship. Measures 37 inches in length.
