This beautiful hand made set features a stunning combination of turquoise, coral, and white glass seed beads. The necklace is designed with wrapped and twisted stands of turquoise glass seed beads, large white glass beads, accents of coral glass seed beads for a vibrant and eye-catching look. Bits of sparkle are added with additions of rhinestones woven in with floral clusters in the center piece. The beads are woven on an antique patina gold pierced filigree back disk. The matching earrings complete the set with a touch of elegance and sophistication. Perfect for adding a touch of retro charm to any outfit. This set is a timeless statement piece that is sure to turn heads. The necklace measure has a wearable length of 17 inches. Each clip earrings is 1 inch in diameter and .75 of an inch high. The necklace is not signed. However, each earring is signed Robert and is obviously a part of the same set or demi parure. Very very fine condition.
'Original by Robert' was initially founded in 1942 under the name of Fashioncraft. In 1942 the name was changed to Originals by Robert and again changed in 1960 to Robert Originals. Lastly, in 1979, the company name changed once more to Ellen Designs. Their designs are similar to those of Miriam Haskell in the use of hand wired seed beads. This style of jewelry was very popular in the 1940s and 50s. Well, but not white; not really, because they are far too fascinating to be merely white like a piece of paper or a sheet. It is as if an apparition has assumed bead form and settled around the neck. These gorgeous, succulent beads seem filled with a reserve of light they have gathered during the day in order to release back into the night like a whisper. If you like pearls but wish for something denser, more grounded in the material world, these may be for you. They do look like pearls from a distance, a pristine strand of vintage cultured Akoya pearls. But then, up close, what are they? White sapphires? What could they be? Most people, of course, have no idea jade is anything other than green. The individual beads measure approximately 8.5mm for a clean, unified presentation around the neck.
