Antique 19th Century Persian 22K Gold Qajar Enameled Gem Set Gold Pendent Rare and stunning large 22k yellow gold hand made pendant with jewels. The pendant is bezel set with one emerald cut genuine natural pink Sapphire. The Sapphire measures 13.42 x 10.15.4.40 mm with a measured weight of 6.37 carats. The Sapphire is graded a medium pink color S12 clarity. The Sapphire is translucent. Bezel set are a total of eight oval cabochon Rubies. The Rubies measure 6.42 x 8.89 x 3.33 mm to 5.53 x 6.91 x 3.00 mm. with a measure total weight of 16.00 carats. The Rubies are semi translucent and are a dark red color with pink overtons. Bezel set are eight cabochon shaped Rubies, the Rubies measure 2.80 x 4.27 x 2.00 mm with a total Ruby weight of 2.00 carats. The rubies are a dark red color with pink overtones and are semi translucent. Bezel set at the bottom of the pendent are a total of seven oval medium colored green cabochon Emeralds, one is missing. The Emeralds measure 4.79 x 3.89 x 2.20 mm with a total Emerald weight of 1.75 carats. The top of the pendant is moveable and is bezel set with one oval cabochon shaped Ruby. The Ruby measures 9.16 x 7.61 x 3.76 mm with a measured weight of 2.17 carats. The Ruby is semi translucent and is dark red color with pink overtones. Surrounding the Ruby are a total of nine cabochon Rubies. The Rubies measure 4.31 x 3.07 x 1.50 mm with a total Ruby weight of 1.44 carats. The Rubies are a dark red color with pink overtones and are semi translucent. The pendant is hand painted enamel finish with a flora motif on the front and back of the pendant. Gold weight is 50.9 pennyweight. Enamel is a heat-fused glass, which is colored by metallic oxides and applied onto a metal surface. There is a long and historic tradition of Persian enamels. The tradition is partly carried from the elaborate commissions and gifts coming to Persia in the 17th century from Europe and Russia. By the late 17th century the position of Court enameler was established. Enamelers in the Qajar dynasty, the ruling dynasty in Iran from 1794 – 1925, developed their own distinct artistic enamel style focusing on the colors pink and blue and exquisitely depicted flowers and foliage. A similar piece resides in the permanent collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
