Art Deco Carved Jadeite Lavalieré Pendant Necklace
About the Item
The central natural jadeite jade in this delightful drop necklace boasts a vibrant, mottled green color in an undulating oval carving. The piercings allowed their Chinese owners to sew these amulets on clothing to boast their status and wealth as well as for protection and good fortune. The carving was reimagined into a sleek lavalieré drop necklace in the 1920s by adding a single jade baton above creating juxtaposition. The 14k yellow gold chain and findings are in original condition displaying a lovely patina.
