Supplier to the Imperial court and founded during the reign of Catherine the Great in the centre of Moscow, Sazikov was one of the earliest and finest silver firms in Russia. Important French Silver & Guilloche Enamel Inkwell by Edouard Henry Dreyfous
Located in Brisbane City, QLD
This inkwell is one of the finest examples we have had in our collection to date. Crafted by the firm 'Dreyfous' the inkwell is made from .800 purity silver, etched crystal and cranberry guilloche enamel. The square form crystal base which sits upon four scroll feet is etched with floral motifs and bordered by gilded .800 purity silver that features panels of rich cranberry guilloche enamel. The central bulbous inkwell features further guilloche enamel that is overlaid with silver garlands and a hinged lid with floral knop. To the inside of the inkwell sits what appears to be its original glass ink liner which is in lovely condition. To the inside rim of the well is engraved 'Dreyfous Paris Londres New York' which helps date the piece to between 1890 and 1920. Queen Alexandra and Queen Mary of England were both frequent customers of Edouard Henry Dreyfous...

Gump's Jade Magnifying Glass and Letter Opener
Located in Southbury, CT
A vintage (circa 1980s) Gump's San Francisco letter opener and magnifying glass pair created in gold-tone non-tarnish metal with hand-engraved floral details and with sleek, beautiful black nephrite jade handles. The pair come in their original pale gold brocade fabric pouch but I do not have the original box. This iconic pair of essential desk adornments are a must for the Gump's or jade collector. My grandmother had this same set plus another with green jade handles. I have always preferred the black handles, though. Classic Gump's, timelessly elegant. Maybe you think you're not a magnifying-kind of person but I would beg to differ. You would be surprised by how useful an optically excellent (which this is) magnifying glass actually is. And you can create completely unique photos...

Chinese Antique Qing Carved "Mutton Fat" Nephrite Plaque Pendant Certified
Located in Southbury, CT
Elegant, rare, and dating to the late Qing period (circa 1890s), this hand-carved nearly colorless white nephrite plaque has been etched on both sides. One one, the Chinese mythological figure known as Zhang Guo Lao is depicted riding a mule. On the opposite side, a magpie sits on a branch of cherry blossoms. The magpie is associated with intelligence. The carving is breathlessly simple and excellent; the work executed -of course- without the aid of electricity or modern tools. Measuring 42.54mm x 29.92mm, the plaque has a hole drilled through the center, which is original to the piece. A silver bail is threaded through the hole and a pair of beads -black jade and coral- reside at the bottom. The jade plaque hands from a 1920s silver chain that is 32" in length. Prior to the discovery of and appreciation for the very fine green jadeite from Burma, colorless, opaque, pure white nephrite jade from the Northern mountains of China was the most revered jade; the original "imperial jade, as only members of the royal court could wear or even touch it. Most of what is commercially sold today as "mutton fat...

Renaissance Cameo Pendant
Located in New Orleans, LA
The cameo at the center of this exceptional pendant is a stunning example of the art of gem engraving during the Renaissance. It likely dates to the early 17th century and features a sacrificial scene inspired by the Greco-Roman era. The central flaming altar is flanked by two figures preparing to sacrifice a ram, while a figure in a lion skin blowing horns stands in the left corner. The carver brilliantly uses the natural layers of the stone to achieve the illusion of shadow and musculature on the figures. A second, smaller cameo is set at the top of the pendant, while a myriad of multi-colored gems, pearls and enamel adorns the 18K gold setting. A large Baroque pearl suspended from an enamel dragon finishes the design, which embodies the opulence and theatricality of jewels from the Renaissance age. Cameos and intaglios were highly popular amongst wealthy connoisseurs in Renaissance Italy, and owning the finest pieces was the privilege of princes. Although they were often elaborately mounted for display alone, cameos were also frequently worn as pendants, surrounded by enameled and stone-set gold frames. Such pieces were particularly prized by the Medici and Lorraine families, many of which can now be seen at the National Archeological Museum in Florence. Very few Renaissance cameos...

Roman Revival 1850 Papal States Grand Tour Micro Mosaic Pendant in 18 Karat Gold
Located in Miami, FL
A Roman revival grand tour pendant with Maltese cross. An exceptional historical piece, created in the Victorian Grand Tour era in Rome Italy during the Papal States period, back in the 1850. It was carefully crafted with Roman-Etruscan revival patterns in solid rich yellow gold of 18 karats and embellished in the obverse with an intricate micro mosaic of a Maltese crusaders cross. In the reverse in high relief is the name of the city ROMA. The round gold frame is decorated with a patterns of twisted wires and fitted on top with an oval bail to wear in a chain or necklace. The micro mosaic is very well executed, of Italian origin and made in Rome. It was created in the shape of a crusaders Maltese cross, from more than six hundred tiny pieces, carved from natural stones, such as; blue lapis lazuli, red coral, black onyx, green malachite, black onyx and creme nacre. The Maltese cross is a cross symbol, consisting of four "V" or arrowhead shaped concave quadrilaterals converging at a central vertex at right angles, two tips pointing outward symmetrically. It is a heraldic cross variant which developed from earlier forms of eight-pointed crosses in the 16th century. Although chiefly associated with the Knights Hospitaller (Order of St. John, now the Sovereign Military Order of Malta), and by extension with the island of Malta, it has come to be used by a wide array of entities since the early modern period, notably the Order of Saint Stephen, the city of Amalfi, the Polish Order of the White Eagle (1709), the Prussian order Pour le Mérite (1740), and the Bavarian Military Merit Order (1866). Weight: 14.25 Grams, (9.13 Dwt). Measurements: 56 mm by 28 mm by 11 mm (2.20 x 1.10 x 0.43 Inches). Resultado de imagen para vatican roma gold...
