Ancient Roman Coin 2nd cent.AD Silver and Rubies Ring depicting Emperor Hadrian

About the Item

Behold this exquisite sterling silver ring graced with four delicate rubies adorning its sides. A true treasure lies within, a genuine Roman coin featuring the majestic likeness of Emperor Hadrian. Known for his illustrious journeys, ambitious architectural endeavors, and efforts to unite the vast reaches of the Roman empire, Hadrian's legacy is rich and fascinating. His refined taste and education are evident in the poems he left behind. The marks of his reign are etched in history through remarkable structures such as the Temple of Rome and Venus, as well as his reconstruction of the iconic Pantheon, which had suffered the ravages of fire during his predecessor's rule. Beyond the confines of Rome, Villa Adriana, his opulent country residence, stands as an architectural marvel, spanning seven square miles of splendor. A true garden city, it boasts baths, libraries, sculpture gardens, theaters, alfresco dining halls, pavilions, and private suites, some of which endure to this day. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999, Villa Adriana captures the epitome of Roman opulence and elegance. On the reverse side of the coin, we find the inscription "Fortuna Avg," an homage to the goddess Fortuna, depicted with her symbolic Cornucopia and rudder.
